RTP: New inherently conductive resin
RTP Co., USA, has launched a new series of thermoplastic compounds containing an inherently conducting polymer (ICP) in PP, PE and PS, through an exclusive license from Panipol, Ltd. of Finland. Panipol makes the ICP. These all- polymeric compounds contain no carbon particles and are non-sloughing. They offer permanent, reproducible conductivity for ESD protection in the range of 106 to 109 ohm/sq surface resistivity. ICP compounds are less expensive than carbon-fiber compounds and reportedly offer better electrical, mechanical and flow properties than compounds filled with carbon particles. They are available in six standard colors for injection or blow molding, blown film and sheet extrusion.
