Kuraray: Expansion of European EVOH capacity
Japan’s Kuraray Co.Ltd. plans to double the European production capacity of its EVAL Europe N.V subsidiary, which produces Eval-brand EVOH barrier resin. The company says world demand for EVOH is growing at more than 10 per cent/yr. Construction of a new production facility at Antwerp, Belgium, will start next January and is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2003. The expansion will boost capacity to 48 million lb/yr. Following the completion of the European expansion, Kuraray plans to undertake a second
expansion project at its Eval Co. of America site in Pasadena, Texas. New capacity between 24 million and 48 million lb is being considered for that site.
