Krauss-Maffei: 36D extruder for Italian pipe manufacturer Sirea
A new generation of counter-rotating twin-screw extruders from Krauss-Maffei, Germany, with a 36D processing unit was presented to the public for the first time at K 2001 in Düsseldorf. Within half a year, the Munich-based machine-maker received over 40 orders for this new extruder type.
The first 36D high-performance extruder shipped in May this year, bound for the fiercely contested Italian market, and another is on the books. A KMD 114-36D model was shipped to the company Sirea Srl. (Barbiano). This owner-run company was set up over 40 years ago and now has 74 employees. With sales of more than EUR 21 million in 2001, Sirea is one of the leading manufacturers of PE and PVC pipes and fittings in Italy.
