British Polythene Industries: Investment in new co-extrusion facility
British Polythene Industries subsidiary bpi.films has spent £1m on a new co-extrusion line in response to increasing demand for products made by the process.
The firm’s Scunthorpe manufacturing facility was refitted to incorporate the new line, and all operating staff were trained in how to work it.
Customers are increasingly demanding co-extruded film because of its economic, performance and downstream benefits, according to bpi.films.
Sales manager Julie Enefer said: “This new machine is testament to our continuing development of products and services to meet customer needs. It is important to keep up to speed with changes in the industry, and the new three-layer co-extrusion machine enables us to do so.
“We made sure we invested in the best machine available to ensure our products remain of the same high quality. It has been an extensive implementation process but we have already seen the results.”
